2026 July
It all started with Emile Sodyte, an indie author herself. For years she lived and breathed the indie book world: writing her own books, showing up at every author event and book fair, and learning firsthand how hard it is for small authors to be seen.
Then, in July 2026, she decided it was time. Time to bring small authors on board and create a place where everyone is welcome, readers and writers alike.
Oakheart Bookshop began its journey.
It has not been easy. The first step was reaching out to romantasy indie authors around the world and inviting them to sign up and join the bookshop, one story at a time.
On the 17th of October, 2026 our website was launched, and now we are collecting funds to open our physical store, a real home for indie books where you can wander the shelves and find your next obsession.
We are just at the beginning of our story and like every good first chapter, it starts with heart.

Oakheart Bookshop Opens
Oakheart officially opens its virtual doors.
What started as an idea to create a home for indie authors becomes a real bookshop, bringing independently published fantasy and romantasy books to readers in Denmark and beyond.
And this is only the beginning.
16 October 2026
Early Access Begins
Our newsletter subscribers are the first readers invited through Oakheart's virtual doors, receiving exclusive access to the shop one day before our official opening.

Over 100 Authors Have Joined Oakheart
We reach one of our biggest milestones yet. More than 100 indie authors have officially signed to become part of Oakheart Bookshop.
New applications continue to arrive, new authors join the shelves, and boxes filled with indie books begin taking over behind the scenes.
September 2026
Our First Volunteers Join Oakheart
As Oakheart grows, so does the team behind it. Our first volunteers join the journey, helping turn an increasingly ambitious idea into something real.
70 Authors Signed
Only weeks after opening applications, 70 indie authors have already signed with Oakheart, with many more applications still waiting to be reviewed.

The dream starts online, but the vision has always been bigger: one day, a physical Oakheart Bookshop in Copenhagen filled with books, cosy corners, author events and a community built around the stories we love.
